Salesforce Feature Retirement – June 2025

Salesforce continues to evolve its platform by retiring legacy tools and encouraging adoption of more modern, scalable alternatives. Two major changes have recently been announced:

  • 🧱 Workflow Rules & Process Builder End of Support – Support ends December 31, 2025
  • 🎧 Standard Omni-Channel Retirement – Fully retired in June 1, 2026.

These changes impact both admins and developers, and require planning and action to ensure your org continues running smoothly.

1️⃣ Workflow Rules & Process Builder – Support Ends Dec 31, 2025

Salesforce has officially announced that Workflow Rules and Process Builder will no longer be supported after December 31, 2025.

❓ Why is this happening?

Salesforce is consolidating automation into a single, powerful tool: Flow Builder. It’s modern, extensible, low-code, and now capable of doing everything Workflow and Process Builder could — and more.

🛑 What happens if you don’t migrate?

  • Existing automations may still work, but…
  • 🚫 No support or bug fixes
  • 🚫 No enhancements
  • ⚠️ High risk during platform updates

✅ What should you do?

  • Use Setup → Workflow Rules and Process Builder to identify active automations.
  • Migrate using Salesforce’s Migrate to Flow tool.
  • Test thoroughly in a sandbox before deploying changes to production.
  • Start early if your org has complex, interdependent automations.

🧠 Pro Tip: Migrate in phases and prioritize high-impact or frequently used automations first.

2️⃣ Standard Omni-Channel – Retirement in June 1, 2026

If your org is still using Standard Omni-Channel, it must be upgraded to Enhanced Omni-Channel before June 1, 2026. Otherwise, your users won’t be able to log in to Omni-Channel or receive routed work.

❓ Why the change?

Enhanced Omni-Channel includes all Standard features and more — like better routing, visibility, and scalability. Salesforce is consolidating to improve the agent experience across all channels.

🛑 What happens if you don’t upgrade?

  • Users will lose access to Omni-Channel and Omni Supervisor.
  • Work won’t be routed — impacting service operations.

✅ What should you do?

  • Test Enhanced Omni-Channel in a sandbox.
  • Go to Setup → Omni-Channel Settings, and enable Enhanced Omni-Channel.
  • Notify your agents and supervisors about the change.

👥 How to find impacted users:

Use this SOQL in Developer Console:

sqlCopyEditSELECT Max(CreatedDate), User.Username
FROM AgentWork
WHERE User.IsActive = true
GROUP BY User.Username

Or create a report on the AgentWork object to identify active users.

🎯 Final Recommendations

Start Now — Don’t Wait

Both retirements may feel far off, but migrations take time — especially in large or complex orgs.

Create a Plan:

  • Audit current usage
  • Communicate with stakeholders
  • Use sandbox testing
  • Phase your rollout
